Online Counselling Software

Prior to 2012-13, admissions to Diploma programmes in all Govt. and Aided polytechnics in the state are being held at various Nodal centres through OFFLINE process.

Overview

In OFFLINE Process, students have to apply more than one application form, where he/she wants admission to polytechnics surrounding nodal center. In offline process maximum five polytechnics are attached to each Nodal centers, so students have less options to select the seats and students can take seat with in the few colleges attached to nodal centers. Example: If students apply application in Govt. Polytechnic for Women(GPW) Hubli nodal center, he/she can select only colleges attached to GPW Hubli nodal center and students cant take seat in polytechnics of Bangalore nodal centers or other colleges. To conduct this process in a more efficient, reliable and transparent manner and to help meritorious students, the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt.of Karnataka has come up with new idea of making this process ONLINE. This Online Process is implementedfirst time in INDIA.Software Design, Development and Hosting Services taken by SHLR TECHNOSOFT PVT LTD.

Why Online ?

In offline process limited colleges related to that district are attached to each Nodal centers, so students have less options to select the seats and students can take seat with in the few colleges attached to nodal centers.

Students can attend any one nodal center out of 11 nodal centers for counseling. Based on the student merit no. and the counseling schedule announced in the website(www.dtekarnataka.in and www.diplomaadmission.in) he/she may come an hour earlier to any of the 11 Nodal centres and get the seat allotted to any polytechnic in the state, where he/she desired/opted. This has reduced the burden of the students and parents, who were waiting for day long to get their seat in the old system of offline admission process. They have expressed their satisfaction in getting seats in diploma as the system is working in a more transparent manner.

• Only one application has to be submitted to avail the facility of taking any available seat in any college throughout the state.
• Students/Parents will receive updates through SMS and email. So no need to come to nodal center to receive updates.
• Online Interactive counseling is not centralized process, it is decentralised.
• In this process, student has the facility to view allotment process like in which nodal center the previous merit numbers are present and in which branch/college they have been allotted.

Procedure :

• There are various stages in the allotment process, first is Document Verification stage in which the students documents will be verified and his/her attendance will be marked as present in the online software.
• Next he/she goes to pre-counseling stage where he/she will be guided by the Nodal Center officers regarding courses available in the polytechnics and current status of seat availability will be displayed over the Projector.
• By looking at the seat availability status of the polytechnic and course which he desires, he goes to Allotment room with various options on courses and colleges where the seat will be allotted as per the choice of the student.
• In this process, student has the facility to view allotment process like in which nodal center the previous merit numbers are present and in which branch/college they have been allotted.

Ex: Merit Number 35384 is present in GPW Hubli Nodal Center, he is the next person to take seat. After this merit no. allotted, next merit number 35385 present in BVVS Polytechnic Bagalkot is eligible to take seats.

Streams :
U - Urban, R - Rural, K - Kannada Medium
O - Open ( Either Boy or Girl can take seat )
F - Female ( Only Girl students can only take seats )
SNQ - Super Numerary Quota ( Any student whose parents income is less than 4.5 can take seat )

The allotment of seats is very much fast, 15 to 20 seconds are being taken to allot a seat to the aspirants, as per their choices and options, which is very much quick.
